Tripura’s Raj Bhavan to be renamed Lok Bhavan from December 1
Agartala: Tripura’s Raj Bhavan will be officially renamed Lok Bhavan starting December 1, 2025.
The decision was announced by Raj Bhavan authorities following instructions from Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and consultations with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The renaming follows central government directives and aims to update the title of the Governor’s residence in line with current nomenclature guidelines.
From the effective date, all official references to Raj Bhavan will adopt the new name.
Authorities said that detailed instructions for the transition, including changes to signage, official documents, communication materials, and ceremonial protocols, will be shared in the coming days.
Governor Nallu explained to reporters that the term “Raj Bhavan” gives an impression of a king’s domain, while in a democratic system, the building ultimately belongs to the people. He added that the renaming to “Lok Bhavan” will also include designated visiting hours for the public to meet officials.
