Six Manipur Police officers promoted to IPS
Imphal: Manipur Police is being strengthened with the promotion of State Police Service officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre, as six officers have been approved for induction into the IPS, according to an official order issued by the Under Secretary to the Government of India.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has approved the IPS Select List for 2024, selecting six Manipur State Police Service officers for promotion to the IPS to fill substantive vacancies in the Manipur cadre.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the UPSC finalised the list during its meeting held on October 7, 2025.
The officers included in the IPS Select List 2024 are Priyadarshini Laishram, Dr. Sarangthem Ibomcha Singh, Mohemed Jackiruddin, Sarangthem Asana, Bembem Nongthombam, and Rajkumar Manbindu Singh.
Prepared under Regulation 7(3) of the Indian Police Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, the Select List aims to fill six vacancies in the Manipur IPS cadre.
Copies of the notification have been sent to the Chief Secretary of Manipur for further communication to the officers concerned, while UPSC has also been informed for official record-keeping.
Additionally, ten IPS probationers who called on the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on November 28, 2025, at Raj Bhavan are currently discharging their duties in relation to the prevailing situation in the volatile border state, particularly in efforts to find a peaceful resolution.
