According to reports, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), accompanied by local police and a contingent of paramilitary forces, initiated the demolition drive at the Y block of Mangolpuri early in the morning.

The drive aimed to remove illegal encroachments within the premises of the mosque.

Local residents gathered at the site as soon as the demolition commenced around 6 am, expressing their opposition to the action.

Reports initially suggested instances of stone pelting during the protest; however, the police later clarified that no such incidents occurred.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Jimmy Chiram assured that despite initial objections, the situation was brought under control swiftly.

He mentioned that the demolition drive had to be temporarily halted after removing a few walls due to the need for heavy machinery to dismantle stronger structures involved in the encroachment.

The situation remains monitored closely by law enforcement authorities to prevent any escalation of unrest.
