Tripura: Man arrested with brown sugar worth Rs 8 lakh in Agartala
Agartala: The Tripura Police late Wednesday night arrested a man from the Barjala area of state capital Agartala and seized brown sugar valued at Rs eight lakh in the international market from his possession.
According to Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy, the accused was arrested in a joint operation by the personnel from West Agartala Police Station and Ramnagar Police Outpost.

“Based on intelligence inputs, police personnel in civilian clothes swiftly moved to the Tripura Road Transportation Corporation (TRTC) office in Barjala and apprehended the suspect. After a thorough search of his belongings, nine pouches containing brown sugar were recovered. The estimated market value of the seized narcotic substance is Rs eight lakh,” SDPO Roy said.
The accused, identified as Rajib Datta, is a resident of Kamalasagar in Sepahijala district.
“He will soon be produced before the court and we will seek his custody for further interrogation,” the SDPO added.
