Assam: Noted novelist and short story writer Arun Goswami passes away in Jorhat
Guwahati: Acclaimed novelist and short story writer from Assam, Arun Goswami passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday night due to a prolonged illness.
Goswami was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mission Hospital in Jorhat where he took his last breath at around 9.45 pm.
Goswami was born in Dergaon and achieved the world record for penning the longest book ever written, spanning over 10,000 pages.
The noted author was a prolific writer whose works reflected a strong sense of social responsibility and pathos.
A couple of his literary works, 'Kalakshana' and 'Salanta Biborini' garnered high acclaim and popularity amongst all age groups.
Goswami was also regarded for his commentary on political issues of the state and the country.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his grief and tweeted in X about Goswami.
