Assam: Diwali night rhino poaching plan foiled, four held in Darrang

Guwahati Four individuals were arrested from the Orang National Park in Assam for allegedly planning to kill a rhino.

According to police sources, the suspected persons were apprehended by officials of the Dalgaon Police Station in the Darrang district of Assam.

The suspects were allegedly attempting to poach a rhino on Diwali night.

They were identified as Abdul Ali, Azdahar Ali, Ali Hussain, and Khalilur Rahman.

All the suspects were residents of Kaupati village in Darrang, Assam.

Police sources said that the suspects were arrested based on a specific input.

Based on the input, an investigation was launched and the police nabbed them from the jungle area of the National Park.

On checking them, the police also seized a 303 rifle and a rifle barrel.

An investigation regarding their alleged plans is being carried out by the police.
