Assam: CRPF Jawan kills self with service revolver in Hailakandi

Silchar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan who was appointed in Hailakandi district, Assam died after he allegedly shot himself with his service revolver.

On Saturday around 6:30 am, the dead body was found at a temporary camp situated in Panchgram in the Algapur tehsil, Hailakandi.

The deceased was a resident of Barpeta, Assam, officials said.

Shamirdapar Baruah, Additional Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi said on Saturday morning they were notified regarding this incident by the CRPF officials and the injured Jawan was taken to a local hospital but the doctors declared him dead.

The dead body was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for postmortem procedure and further investigation.

Baruah added there is a possibility of a suicide; however, they are waiting for the doctor’s confirmation.

On the other hand, the CRPF officials refused to give any statement regarding this matter.

As per the information, the family members of the CRPF Jawan have been asked to receive the dead body from Hailakandi.
