Shillong: Putting an end to speculation, National People's Party (NPP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi has categorically denied reports of his impending resignation before the completion of his term in 2026 in Meghalaya.

However, he confirmed that he will not seek a second term in the Upper House of Parliament.

Kharlukhi stated that he is committed to serving his full term as MP, dismissing rumours of his early exit as mere imagination.

He further said, "I have dedicated myself to this role, and I will see it through until the end of my term in 2026."

Contrary to reports suggesting the NPP is seeking a replacement for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Meghalaya, Kharlukhi's clarification has put the matter to rest.

Rumours also suggested that Agatha Sangma could be a potential replacement.
