Shillong: The construction of the new Meghalaya Legislative Assembly complex at Mawdiangdiang is facing delays, with Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma acknowledging that the project will likely require an additional month to complete.

Originally slated for completion by September 30, Sangma expressed his desire to see the project finished as soon as possible.

During a review meeting and inspection of the site, Sangma noted that while progress has been good, it has been slightly slow.

The Speaker said that the building and its surroundings harmonizing with the natural environment was very important.

He further instructed departments like Forest and Horticulture to maximize green spaces.
