Meghalaya: Missing junior engineer found dead in Umiam River

SHILLONG: The body of Ron Cooper Massar, a 54-year-old resident of Umroi Jaiawpdeng in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya, was discovered floating in the Umiam River at Umroi Nongrah on Tuesday (May 21).

Massar had been reported missing since early Monday (May 20) morning when he left his home for a jog around 4:00 AM, according to local police.

While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, initial suspicions point to drowning.

The Meghalaya police have stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Massar's body has been transported to Nongpoh civil hospital in Meghalaya for a post-mortem examination to establish the precise cause of death.

Ron Cooper Massar was serving as a junior engineer in Meghalaya water conservation department at the time of his passing.

The discovery of his body has sent shockwaves throughout Meghalaya.
