Shillong: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has raised alarm over the presence of the Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) Centre within the Shillong Civil Hospital premises in Meghalaya.

They have cited numerous complaints about (alleged) disruptive behaviour, theft, and a hostile environment created by individuals visiting the centre.

Following an investigation, the council said that it apprehended suspected thieves who admitted to being drug addicts and frequent visitors to the OST Centre.

Expressing deep concern for the well-being and security of hospital users, the HYC has urged the Director of Health Services to immediately relocate the centre to a more suitable location outside a public building.

The council added that the safety and security of hospital visitors and staff was a priority.
