Shillong: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) has extended an invitation to the Voice of the People Party (VPP) to join the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) in Meghalaya.

The existing alliance currently comprises the HSPDP and the United Democratic Party (UDP).

HSPDP president KP Pangniang expressed the desire to unite regional forces and believes that the inclusion of the VPP would strengthen the alliance.

While acknowledging potential electoral competition among alliance partners, Pangniang emphasized the importance of post-election unity to address common agendas.

The RDA aims to protect the interests of indigenous communities and eventually form the government in Meghalaya.

Both the HSPDP and UDP have stressed the need for regional parties to consolidate their efforts to effectively serve the people of the state.
