Meghalaya: Five arrested for petrol bomb attack on JN Bawri bust in Shillong

Shillong: Police in Meghalaya have arrested five individuals for their alleged involvement in a petrol bomb attack on the bust of JN Bawri near Bawri Mansion in Shillong.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 4:00 AM on Sunday, saw unknown assailants hurling a petrol bomb at the bust and pelting stones at a nearby ATM booth in the Dhankheti area of Shillong in Meghalaya.

Following the attack, the police registered a case at the Laitumkhrah Police Station.

A forensic team was immediately deployed to the scene to conduct a detailed investigation.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger, confirmed the arrests, stating, "Five accused persons have been arrested in connection with the case."

The identities of the arrested individuals have not been disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the attack and are looking into the possibility of additional suspects being involved in the incident.
