Three militants arrested in Manipur for extortion activities
Imphal: Security forces, acting on intelligence-based combing, cordon, and search operations, arrested three militants belonging to various proscribed outfits in Manipur for their alleged involvement in extortion activities, police reported on Wednesday.
Police stated that an active cadre of the outlawed United National Liberation Front-Koireng group (UNLF-K), identified as Laishram Pronanjit Singh alias Jit/Thondonba (25) of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Imphal West district, was arrested from Uripok Yambem Leikai under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West. A mobile phone was seized from his possession.
In the second phase of the operation, an active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (KCP-PWG), identified as Thounaojam Yaima Meitei (40) of Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai, Imphal West district, was apprehended from his locality under Singjamei Police Station. A mobile phone along with a SIM card was recovered from him.
In the last phase of the operation, conducted on Tuesday, an active cadre of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), identified as Thounaojam Subhashchandra Meitei of Wabagai Keirak Achouba, Kakching district, was arrested from Waikhong Kangsam Leikai under Waikhong Police Station, Kakching district. A mobile phone was also seized from him.
