Manipur: Large cache of weapons seized in Thoubal and Churachandpur
Imphal: In operations against anti-social elements, the central security forces and Manipur police recovered a substantial cache of weapons from insurgent hideouts in two districts over the past 36 hours, officials said on Thursday.
Although no arrests were made, a significant haul of illegal items was recovered in the first operation at Tentha Tuwaband in Thoubal District.
Assam Rifles, along with Thoubal Police Commandos, recovered one M16 rifle, one single-barrel PAG, one .22 rifle, five 9mm pistols, six live rounds, two grenades, four cartridges, and other warlike stores.
During a separate operation at an undisclosed location in Churachandpur District, additional illegal weapons and ammunition were seized.
These included one 7.62 mm SLR rifle, one AK-56 rifle, one MA4 MK II rifle with UBGL, four SLR magazines, three AK-56 magazines, two M4A1 magazines, one country-made AK magazine, 99 SLR rounds, 151 AK-56 rounds, one lathode, and eight lathode grenades.
The reports added that all recovered items were subsequently handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal proceedings.
