Manipur: Curtain-raiser rally flagged off for 32nd Imphal Book Fair 2025

Imphal: State Central Library organised a curtain-raiser rally for the 32nd Imphal Book Fair 2025 on Sunday in Manipur's Imphal.

The event was held in collaboration with the District Libraries, the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, the Manipur Library Association (MALA), and various NGOs operating public libraries.

The organisers flagged off the rally from the campus.

The book fair will take place from 15th to 24th December 2025.

Chief Librarian Dr. R.K. Urmila of the State Central Library flagged off the rally. The two-wheeler rally started from the campus and moved along Mayailambi, Pishumthong, Singjamei, Wangkhei, Minuthong, Nagamapal, and concluded at the same campus in the Imphal area.

She said that amidst the present uncertainty and continuous challenges in the State, it has become increasingly important to focus on constructive and enriching activities.

Reading books offers a sense of stability, hope, and intellectual strength, and provides comfort, guidance, and a positive mindset—especially for students and youth.

Sunday’s curtain-raiser aimed to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to encourage the public to engage with books and learning. The main objective of the book fair is to highlight the importance of connecting readers with writers, publishers, and other professionals in the literary world.
