Guwahati: The National People’s Party (NPP) reshaped its Manipur leadership on Saturday by appointing former MP Lorho S. Pfoze as the new state president.

NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma confirmed the development through an official statement.

In the same announcement, the party elevated MLAs Thongam Shanti Singh, J. Pamei, and Sheikh Noorul Hassan to the posts of working presidents, signalling a strategic organisational boost ahead of key political events.

Pfoze, who left the Naga People’s Front (NPF) earlier this year, joined the NPP in September in Shillong.

His swift rise within the party ranks reflects the NPP’s attempt to reinforce its leadership base in Manipur.

With these new appointments, the NPP aims to consolidate its influence in the state, where it currently holds six seats in the 60-member Assembly.
