Manipur violence: Three killed, over 30 injured in protest in Chrachandpur

IMPHAL: Three protestors were killed, and more than 30 others were injured during a demonstration in Churachandpur, Manipur which turned violent following suspension of a police head constable.

The deputy commissioner and SP offices in Churachandpur were allegedly set on fire by unidentified individuals, who also tore down the Indian National Flag from these government buildings.

Manipur police informed that a mob attempted to storm the Churachandpur SP office in Manipur following the suspension of a head constable, who was allegedly seen with armed individuals in a viral video.

The police responded by firing tear gas shells to control the situation.

Head constable Siamlalpaul was immediately suspended by Churachandpur SP Shivanand Surve after the video of him with armed individuals circulated on social media.

A head constable has been suspended for making video along with miscreants in Churachandpur.

He has been instructed not to leave the station without prior permission, and his pay and allowances have been restricted to the permissible subsistence allowance.
