Manipur: Village volunteer injured in exchange of firing

Imphal: A village volunteer sustained injuries in an exchange of intermittent gunfire with miscreants in the areas of Khamelok and Pukhao Shantipur, spanning Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts of Manipur on Monday afternoon, according to officials.

The volunteer, belonging to the Meitei community, suffered a bullet injury to his left shoulder during the altercation with militants around 3:30 pm on Monday.

He was promptly transported to Raj Medicity Hospital in Imphal, where doctors are currently treating him.

The identity of the injured volunteer has been withheld.

The resurgence of intermittent gunfire between the two opposing groups commenced in these inter-district locations from 10 pm on Sunday and continues unabated at the time of this report.
