Manipur: Mother and daughter found dead in Imphal
Imphal: A 40-year-old widow and her young daughter were found dead in their home in Manipur's Imphal West district on Monday.
The police are investigating the case as a suspected murder.
The bodies of Ningombam Basanti, a widow, and her 7-year-old daughter, Lanchenbi, were found in their residence in the Haoreibi Mayai Leika area, said a police official.
Basanti, who had been widowed a few years ago, was the sole caretaker of her daughter, the official said.
According to police, the victims were found in a bedroom under mysterious circumstances. A case has been registered, and an investigation team has been formed to determine the exact cause of death.
The bodies of the mother and daughter have been sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal for a post-mortem examination.
