Manipur: Drugs worth Rs 2.35 crore seized from Guwahati-bound vehicle in Imphal

Imphal: In a major drug bust in Manipur, the Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Imphal Branch Customs Division seized contraband drugs worth Rs 2.35 crore in the international black market from a Guwahati-bound vehicle on Saturday, officials informed on Sunday.

Acting on intelligence received from across the border, a team of anti-smuggling officers intercepted the suspicious vehicle on National Highway 102 near Mantripukhri, about 5 kilometres from Imphal, at around 7:30 AM on Saturday.

During a search of a passenger and his belongings, the team discovered 40 small plastic bags containing a total of 470 grams of Brown Sugar, valued at approximately Rs 2.35 crore in the international illegal drug market.

The identity of the arrested suspect is being withheld to facilitate further raids and potential arrests and seizures, officials said. The individual has been booked under the NDPS Act of 1985.
