Manipur: Drug peddler held with 230 grams of Heroin in Imphal
Imphal: Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested an alleged drug peddler along with heroin powder weighing 230 grams in an operation in the Imphal West district, an official statement said on Wednesday.
Based on specific input received from across the border regarding clandestine operations of contraband items on NH-102, Manipur police established a frisking operation at a location in the Imphal West district.
The operation yielded fruitful with the apprehension of one alleged drug peddler. During the search operation, the police recovered 20 soap cases of Heroin locally called No-4, weighing 230 grams, worth around Rs 30 lakhs in the international black market. The arrested peddler has later been identified as Md. Saruk Khan (31 years).
The apprehended individual along with recovery items have been handed over to the Imphal West district Police for further investigations, the statement added.
The police stated that the arrested smuggler would be booked under the Narcotic Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances Act, and a case had been registered against the arrested person.
