IMPHAL: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has thanked the Assam police for arresting a woman from the strife-torn state with drugs.

Manipur CM Biren Singh congratulated the Assam police for “arresting a woman of Hmar tribe” with 700 grams of heroin.

“Thanks and congratulations Assam police for arresting a woman of Hmar tribe from Manipur with 50 soap drugs heroin worth Rs 5 crore at Cachar district,” said Biren Singh.

It may be mentioned here that a woman from Manipur has been arrested in Assam with a sizeable quantity of drugs being seized from her possession.

The woman from Jiribam in Manipur was arrested with heroin worth over Rs 5 crore in Cachar district of Assam.

The police in Cachar district of Assam seized 700 grams of heroin from the possession of the woman from Manipur after searching a vehicle.

The heroin were packed in 50 soap cases and kept in a bag, Assan police informed.

The arrested woman from Manipur has been identified as 35-year-old Nengcha Hmar.
