Assam: 39 sub-districts to become functional in state from Oct 4
Guwahati: As many as 39 sub-districts of Assam that have been formed to increase the administrative efficiency will become functional from October 4, 2024.
These sub-districts will be called as “Xama-Zilla” in Assamese.
The headquarters of these sub-districts will also become functional on the same day.
These sub-districts will be headed by an Assistant District Commissioner and aided by two Assistant Commissioners.
Other than the top officials, the sub-districts will have officials and staff of various relevant departments.
The Assam government decided to create these sub-districts for administrative advantageousness to attain added success, productiveness and effectiveness at the grassroots level and in support of a beneficial citizen-focussed administration.
