Manipur Assembly Budget Session from Feb 28

Imphal: The budget session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly will take place from February 28 as per a resolution taken in a cabinet meeting with the chief minister N Biren Singh in the chair at his secretariat on Friday.

Talking to newsmen at his office in Imphal after the cabinet meeting, Manipur Information and Public Relations Minister Dr. Y Ranjan told the newsmen that the fifth session of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly would be held on February 28.

The session would be commenced with the governor’s address and the same would be discussed at this session since it is the first sitting of the year, 2024.

The Manipur speaker adjourned the assembly session on August 29, 2023 sine die.

During the session, the Name of Places Bill 2024 will be tabled at this Assembly session.

When the said bill 2024 passes in the house and enacts it, frequent changes of names of land and places by certain civil social organizations at different places across the state would be restricted to a certain extent.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata said that the Privilege and Ethics Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly has given assurance for conducting a meeting of the committee by February 14 in connection with demands of taking action against 10 Kuki MLAs who are demanding separate administrative state to be carved out from the state of Manipur.
