The NIA had issued summons to top ULFA-I leaders, including its chairman and general secretary.

The case pertains to involvement of the outfit in a grenade attack on an army camp in Assam last year.

ULFA-I leader Ishan Asom stated that the “conflict between Assam and India” requires a “political solution”.

He also urged the NIA to push the union government towards “political dialogue” in regards to the issue of “sovereignty of Assam”.

The statement also warned that if such actions persist, their resistance will intensify.

The NIA court recently issued a public notice summoning ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah, senior leader Arunodoy Asom, and others for the trial concerning the grenade attack on an army camp at Kakopathar in Tinsukia district of Assam, in November last year.
