Lok Sabha elections: AIUDF polling agent dies inside poll booth in Assam

SILCHAR: A polling agent from the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) passed away at a polling booth in Hailakandi district of Assam.

The incident took place on Friday (April 26) during the second phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections in Assam.

The deceased AIUDF polling agent has been identified as Farooq Ahmed.

The unfortunate incident took place at a polling station set up at the Gollashera primary school in Hailakandi district of Assam near the interstate border with Mizoram.

Ahmed suddenly collapsed while on duty and was pronounced dead on the spot.

The cause of Ahmed’s untimely demise is suspected to be brain stroke, although an official confirmation is awaited from medical authorities.
