Dibrugarh: Indian Army troops stationed at Digboi Army Camp in Tinsukia, Assam undertook emergency revetment works on an old British-era dam near the IOCL refinery, averting a potential disaster and saving precious lives.

The dam, constructed by the British to keep the waters of an artificial lake away from residential areas, had developed a breach due to water pressure.

Upon receiving an emergent call from Digboi Refinery officials, the Army troops swikftly responded and carried out the necessary repairs within a couple of hours, plugging the breach and ensuring the safety of surrounding localities, including Golai Block, Golai Gaon 2 & 3, and Nabjyoti Gaon.

The successful mission was undertaken in collaboration with IOCL officials.

The locals from the villages expressed their gratitude to the Army personnel for their timely intervention.
