Assam: Scooter rider killed, pillion critical after dumper truck accident in Guwahati
Guwahati: A 24-year-old man was killed after being run over by a dumper truck near the Tetelia area in Guwahati, Assam on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Himang Kashyap, who was killed after a speeding (allegedly) dumper truck collided with his scooter in the Tetelia area.
The pillion rider sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
The accident occurred near the Radisson Blu Hotel.
According to reports, Kashyap and his companion were traveling on a scooter when the dumper truck, bearing registration number AS 01GC 1285, rammed into them from behind.
The impact was so forceful that Kashyap was killed instantly.
The injured pillion rider was rushed to GMCH for medical attention, and their current condition remains critical.
Just two days prior, on Wednesday, a retired individual named Nipendra Nath lost his life in a similar accident involving a GMC dumper truck in the Beltola locality.
Police are currently investigating both incidents.
