Assam: Gold theft racket busted in Guwahati, stolen items recovered
Guwahati: A major gold theft case was reportedly solved by the police in Guwahati, Assam after the arrest of five suspected individuals.
The five individuals were arrested from the Kahilipara area in Guwahati.
The arrested include two suspected thieves and three city-based jewellers.

Sources stated that on July 8, the two alleged thieves stole gold worth Rs 7 lakhs from a residence in Kahilipara.
The entire theft was captured on CCTV footage.
The police launched an investigation following a complaint regarding the incident.
The investigation led to the arrest of the culprits.
It was found that the stolen gold after being melted into a plate, had been sold to jewelers in the Lakhtokia area for Rs 5 lakhs.

The police successfully recovered the stolen gold, along with a motorcycle used in the crime, tools like screwdrivers and wrenches, and melee weapons.
The apprehended suspected have been identified as Xun Kumar Das from Satgaon and Lal Chandra Ali from Barpeta.
The jewellers involved in the alleged illegal transaction are Akbar Ali, Nirmal Mandal, and Jivan Karmakar.
The investigation is ongoing to uncover any further connections to this "criminal network".
