Haflong: At least six workers were injured at a cement plant in Assam's Dima Hasao district on Saturday evening when a tower crane collapsed, trapping multiple workers beneath it.

The incident occurred the Line-2 project site of Dalmia Cement Ltd at Umrongso in Dima Hasao district.

Police officials said emergency responders were immediately sent to the scene and rescue operations are underway.

A number of injured workers have been evacuated from the site and rushed to HAMM Hospital in Hojai for medical treatment. However, the exact number of casualties remains uncertain as rescue efforts continue.

The cause of the crane collapse is currently under investigation, said a police official.

Police and district administration are working to ascertain the full extent of the damage and the number of people affected by this tragic accident.
