Assam: Two underage girls reported missing from Narayanpur

NORTH LAKHIMPUR: In a troubling occurrence, two underage girls from the Narayanpur riverine area in Lakhimpur district of Assam, have disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Their disappearance has sparked concerns of human trafficking in the region.

They vanished while working in a mustard field on a river isle near Tinitiya village of Mermukh, under Narayanpur police station in Lakhimpur district, Assam.

The girls were last seen on February 17.

According to reports, the parents of the missing girls received calls from them, claiming they were being held captive in Kerala.

However, the location of these calls has been traced to Nagaon district in Assam.

Concerned by their disappearance, the parents have lodged complaints at Narayanpur police station.

Monalisha appeared in the HSLC examination in 2023, while Jubli is a student of Class VI at Tinitia Anhatguri High School in Narayanpur, Assam.
