Guwahati: A total of five regional films from the Northeast, including three from Assam, one from Arunachal Pradesh, and one from Meghalaya, have been selected for screening at the prestigious Indian Panorama section of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The Assamese films chosen are "Juiphul," directed by Jadumoni Dutta, "Rador Pakhi," directed by Dr. Bobby Sarma Baruah, and "Swargarath," directed by Rajesh Bhuyan.

From Meghalaya, the Garo film "Chanchisoa," directed by Elvachisa Ch Sangma and Dipankar Das, will also be showcased.

Arunachal Pradesh's Galo language film "Karken," directed by Nending Loder, will likewise be screened at the festival.

While "Swargarath" will be featured in the mainstream Cinema Section, the Garo film "Chanchisoa" has been selected under the Non-Feature Films category.

These films, along with 21 other feature films and 19 non-feature films from across India, will be screened at the festival, which is scheduled to take place in Panaji, Goa, from November 20 to 28, 2024.

The festival is organized by the National Film Development Corporation, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the State Government of Goa.
