Assam: Two minors drown in NEEPCO water reservoir near Umrangso

Haflong: Two young boys perished in a tragic boating accident at the NEEPCO water reservoir near Umrangso in Assam's Dima Hasao district on Friday, police officials said.

The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Jugal Mudoi, son of Dharmeshwar Mudoi, resident of 16 Kilo, Umrangso, and 15-year-old Arjit Paul, son of Ananta Paul, resident of 12 Kilo, Umrangso, Dima Hasao.

Details surrounding the incident are still emerging, but reports indicate the boys were enjoying a day out on the reservoir when their boat capsized. The sudden turn of events left them submerged in the water, along with the boat.

Local emergency services were called to the scene, and fire and rescue personnel swiftly deployed to retrieve the bodies from the reservoir.
