DIBRUGARH: Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, set to contest from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, addressed BJP party workers at Kotoha under the Khowang legislative assembly constituency (LAC) on Thursday (March 21).

Sonowal urged all party members in the constituency to empower the 187 booth offices of Khowang to spread awareness about the “decade of good governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership”.

He emphasized how various “welfare schemes by the government have directly benefited the people, enhancing their quality of life”.

“Our party workers are our greatest asset. Your energy and enthusiasm will ensure ‘Ab Ki Baar, 400 Paar’, marking a third term for the successful, dynamic, and inspiring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. You are from the Khowang society, hence, it is your responsibility to inform the people about the positive work done by the Modi government in the last decade and garner public support. I humbly request all of you to commit to this cause for the next 30 days, under the leadership of Khowang MLA Chakradhar Gogoi, in all the 187 booths of Khowang. We must counter the opposition's petty mudslinging with sound arguments supported by facts and results in the court of public opinion. Under Modi ji, India has prospered, and so has Assam,” stated Sonowal.

He added, “Today, various welfare schemes launched by the NDA government have benefited the poor, marginalized, and middle class. These schemes were initiated with the sole objective of public welfare. People from all walks of life, including women, self-help groups, farmers, tea workers, retailers, youth, children, senior citizens, and homemakers, have benefited. We will take this as our core strength and ensure that the vision of 'Viksit Assam in a Viksit Bharat' remains uninterrupted.”

Criticizing the Congress, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Congress has consistently failed the people for more than six decades. Imagine how the Bogibeel bridge, which has opened up avenues for the entire region, remained neglected under Congress-led governments. When Modi became Prime Minister, he expedited this vital project. Today, it stands tall, transforming transportation and unlocking opportunities. Even roads in the villages of Khowang, which were distant dreams under Congress governments, have been built. Six decades of Congress misrule pale in comparison to one decade of good governance under Narendra Modi.”

“Under Congress rule, people of the North bank were ignored for decades. From Jonai to Dhubri, little was done to improve public transportation and quality of life. Since Modi ji became Prime Minister in 2014, eight new bridges over the Brahmaputra have been approved and are under development. This is the 'Modi Ki Guarantee.' Assam failed to progress under Congress rule, despite sending a Prime Minister to the Rajya Sabha. The state's basic issues like peace, prosperity, and progress were ignored during the dark era of the Congress-led UPA government. Whatever the opposition says, they are aligned with the Congress, and people will not tolerate their misdeeds that have crippled Assam. Congress-led India was plagued by corruption, dynastic politics, and communalism, weakening the nation. Today, these negative elements have been replaced by a new brand of politics focused on progress and development,” Sonowal added.
