Assam: Police bust drug rackets across state, 10 arrested

Guwahati: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Police arrested 10 individuals and seized large quantities of narcotics from three different locations across the state.

Three individuals – Sirajul Islam, Siraj Ali, and Mustafa Alam – were apprehended in Moirabari after police recovered 15 containers filled with illegal drugs, two mobile phones, and Rs 13,500 in cash.

The police continued their operations in Moran Town, Dibrugarh, arresting Jitul Das and Ankur Gogoi and seizing 23.62 grams of heroin.

City crime branch officers, in a joint operation with Hatigaon and Basistha Police, nabbed five drug peddlers – Mohidul Islam, Nizamuddin, Nuruza Begum, and two others whose identities are yet to be revealed – in Hatigaon.

The team recovered 20 boxes of soap cases containing heroin and 27 additional packets of drugs.
