Assam: One killed, two injured after truck-car head-on collision in Nagaon

Guwahati: A man was killed while two others were injured after their car had a head-on collision with a truck in Nagaon, Assam on Monday.

The incident was reported from Jakhalabandha in Nagaon, Assam.

The deceased was identified as Avijit Saikia, a resident of Jorhat.

He was driving the car at the time of the accident.

His car bearing registration number AS01AK5253 collided with a truck carrying LPG cylinders coming from the opposite direction.

It was not immediately clear what triggered the accident but "over-speeding" at a restricted area has been suspected.

Although locals managed to take the occupants out of the vehicles, Avijit Saikia succumbed to his injuries on the spot before any medical assistance could arrive.

Two other individuals are reported to be in critical condition.

An investigation has been initiated in connection with the incident.
