Assam: Newlywed bride found dead in Cachar

Guwahati: A woman who had been married for only three days was found dead hanging at her residence in Cachar, Assam on Thursday.

The bride identified as Anwara Begum was found hanging at her residence in Bhabanipur village, just three days after her marriage.

Anwara Begum married Zakir Hussain Laskar on Sunday, but she was found dead just after three days of her marriage.

Her husband, who had left for work, returned home to find her hanging. Laskar claimed she was fine when he left, and had even expressed a desire to visit her parents.

The husband immediately informed Anwara's parents, and with the help of neighbours, rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead.

According to Laskar and neighbours, the couple's brief marriage was without any visible issues.

The reasons behind Anwara's extreme step are not yet known.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Anwara's death.
