Guwahati: On Tuesday, a man was killed after being attacked by a rhino in Majuli, Assam.

The man identified as Padma Bherua was killed by a rhino near Majuli's Bhokot Chapori village.

According to reports, Bherua was on a morning walk when he encountered the rhino.

Forest officials arrived at the scene to investigate but they faced criticism from villagers regarding wildlife management practices.

This incident follows another rhino attack reported earlier this month at Kaziranga National Park, where a forest guard was injured while patrolling.

It may be mentioned that rhinos just like elephants often wander out of their habitat to other places in search of food.

They often attack as they have poor eyesight and often depend on their sense of smell or hearing to perceive their surroundings.

Sudden movement, unfamiliar sounds, or feeling encroached upon can trigger a "charge" even if they don't intend to harm.
