This status empowers the college to independently design and conduct its academic programs, evaluate students, and undertake administrative decisions in line with UGC guidelines.

A formal communication from the UGC stated, “The Commission in its meeting held on 25.06.2024 has approved the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Autonomous Colleges to confer the autonomous status to B Borooah College, Guwahati, affiliated to Gauhati University, for a period of 10 years.”
