Agartala: The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agartala city of Tripura detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including children, at the Agartala Railway Station on Monday (July 01).

This follows the apprehension of 39 Bangladeshi nationals and five Indian touts in the past month in Tripura.

Tapas Das, Officer-In-Charge of the GRP at Agartala Railway Station in Tripura, informed that the detentions on Monday (July 01) were based on a tip-off received late Sunday (June 30) night about illegal Bangladeshi nationals at the railway station planning to travel to various destinations.

“We have detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals along with their children. Preliminary interrogation reveals they entered Tripura illegally and without valid documents, intending to travel by train. A case has been filed, and they will be produced before the court,” said Das.

He also mentioned that last month, the GRP detained 39 Bangladeshi nationals, including five children, and five Indian touts.

The Indian touts are currently being interrogated for further evidence.
