US Lawmakers pledge support for Tibet, meet Dalai Lama in Dharamsala
Guwahati: Defying China's warnings, a bipartisan delegation of US lawmakers led by Congressman Michael McCaul visited Dharamshala, India to meet with the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
The delegation's visit comes on the heels of the recent passage of the Resolve Tibet Act, which urges dialogue between China and the Dalai Lama to resolve the ongoing dispute.
McCaul, a Republican from Texas and chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee hailed the CTA as a "temple of democracy" and expressed hope for its return to Tibet.

He emphasized the Act's significance as a "major shift" in US policy towards Tibetan self-determination.
The delegation also presented the Dalai Lama with a framed copy of the legislation, which he called "very important."

Other members of the delegation included former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrats Gregory Meeks and Jim McGovern, and Republicans Ami Bera, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Nicole Malliotakis.
Congressman McGovern reiterated America's unwavering support for the Tibetan people during their visit to the CTA.
