IAF Tejas fighter jet crashes during Dubai Air Show, pilot killed
Guwahati: An Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas fighter jet crashed on Friday afternoon while performing an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show, around 2:10 pm local time.
The pilot lost his life in the incident, the IAF confirmed.

In an official statement, the IAF said a court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the crash.
“An IAF Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family. A court of inquiry is being constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the Air Force spokesperson said.
Witnesses reported seeing a fireball and thick black smoke at the crash site near the airport, causing panic among spectators, including families and children attending the show.

The Tejas is a 4.5-generation fighter jet designed for offensive air support, close combat, and ground-attack missions, according to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
It is also capable of performing ground and maritime operations, making it one of India’s most versatile indigenous platforms.
The Tejas family includes single-seat fighter variants for both the Air Force and Navy, as well as twin-seat trainer versions for each service.
The most advanced version, the LCA Mk1A, includes upgrades to improve combat capability and survivability.
It is equipped with an AESA radar, advanced electronic warfare systems with radar warning and jamming, a digital map generator, smart multifunction displays, combined interrogator and transponder systems, and a modern radio altimeter, among other features enhancing its operational performance.
