Imphal: The joint team from the central and state forces in their continuation of ongoing efforts to intensify counter-insurgency campaigns, carried out operations in six villages of three hill districts of Manipur sharing borders with Myanmar during the past 24 hours, an official statement said on Sunday.

In the Churachandpur district, the operations were launched at four villages Samulamlan, Songphel, New Bijang, and Lamsai.

The second operation was also conducted at Leithokching village of Tengnoupal District.

The last operation was also carried out at Singtam and Toupokpi village in Chandel District.

In all, a slew of weapons were recovered from these operations. Among the recovered items are: one Improvised Long-range heavy Mortar, a two-inch fired shell, two SLRs with magazines, eight 12-bore single-barrel rifles, one 315 Rifle with magazine attached telescopic sight, one Improvised heavy mortar, one Improvised Mortar (Pompi), two Grenades, and four Radio sets and 59 live ammunition rounds.

The recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings and early disposal, the police added.
