Two unidentified bodies found in Manipur rivers

Imphal: Manipur police retrieved two bodies from separate rivers in the state within the last 24 hours, according to reports.

The first body, a female in an advanced state of decomposition, was found in the Kongba River near Kazipat, Imphal East district, on Friday morning.

Local residents alerted the Irilbung police station, who recovered the body and sent it to JNIMS hospital, Imphal, for an autopsy.

In a separate incident, a male body, also decomposed, was recovered from the Khuga River in Churachandpur district on Thursday.

The Churachandpur district police retrieved the body and transported it to the Churachandpur district hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police have registered separate cases for each recovery and are seeking public assistance in identifying the deceased.
