Guwahati: In early morning search operations on Wednesday at 5.30 am, a police team from Guwahati, Assam seized a truck with 24 cattle illegally.

As per police information, during the Naka checking at Jorabat link road Assam Meghalaya border point based on a specific input one ultra mini truck vehicle bearing Reg. No. AS 01QC-7977 carrying cattle illegally and atrociously from Morigaon side en route to Byrnihat, Meghalaya has been intercepted.

Accordingly, the police recovered a total of 24 cattle along with the driver —Musharraf Ali (21yrs), S/O Zafar Ali K R/O Kusiani, PS-Mayong, District, Morigaon.

When police sought documents the driver of the vehicle was not able to produce any valid papers and stated that he had been carrying cattle from Mayong (Morigaon) towards Byrnihat Meghalaya in the vehicle.

During further enquiry, the driver was not able to produce any legal documents of ownership of 24 cattle.

Accordingly, the loaded vehicle with cattle was seized at Jorabat Link Road, Assam Meghalaya Border point in the presence of witnesses and the driver was apprehended and brought to Jorabat Police Outpost, the police official said.

The police are carrying out further investigations.
