Tripura government sends relief team to Dima Hasao in Assam after bus accident
AGARTALA: Tripura government has dispatched a relief team to Dima Hasao district in Assam following a tragic accident involving a bus carrying passengers from Tripura.
According to reports, the Tripura government sent Genius Debbarma and Dr Arindam Das to Dima Hasao district of Assam to coordinate immediate response and relief efforts.
Responding to the incident, Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha stated that the state government is actively assessing all avenues to aid the family members of the late Dibraj Debbarma, who lost his life in the bus accident in Dima Hasao district of Assam.
Dibraj Debbarma, a resident of Dhalai district in Tripura, met his untimely demise as a result of the accident that occurred on Thursday (May 02) in Dima Hasao district of Assam.
Tripura CM Manik Saha expressed sadness on the incident, stating, “I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. We are committed to providing the utmost support to the grieving family during this difficult time.”
It may be mentioned here that a night bus traveling from Agartala in Tripura to Guwahati in Assam overturned near Ditokcherra in Dima Hasao district, around 12:30 AM on Thursday (May 02), leaving one person dead and several injured.
The bus, operated by Seema Travels with registration number AS-01NC-0243, is suspected to have been speeding and the driver may have been intoxicated, according to police reports.
The driver is currently absconding and a further investigation is underway.
Police officers from Harangajao and Ditokcherra along with Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the scene to rescue the passengers.
One male passenger, Dibraj Deb Barma, 33, from Maharani Kamalpur village in Tripura‘s Dhalai district, died on the way to the hospital.
Six passengers sustained serious injuries and were referred to Silchar Medical College in Assam after receiving initial treatment at Harangajao.
Around 25 others with minor injuries are being treated at the Harangajao Public Health Center.
