Tripura police initiates stringent security measures ahead of Lok Sabha elections
AGARTALA: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Tripura police has initiated robust security measures across the state, leading to significant seizures of narcotics valued at Rs 3 crore and the preventive arrest of around 12,000 individuals.
Insiders from Tripura police revealed that a comprehensive strategy has been put into action to ensure a peaceful electoral process devoid of violence.
A senior official stated that, as part of proactive measures, 70 companies of central armed police forces (CAPF) have been deployed in Tripura.
“Alongside the deployment of CAPF, the state has mobilized 5000 personnel from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and established over 350 Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) across its territories. Furthermore, more than 1000 vehicle checkpoints and over 100 permanent checkpoints have been set up to enhance security,” the official disclosed.

He further revealed that the heightened security measures have led to an increase in search operations and flag marches throughout Tripura.
Between March 01 and March 27, CAPF alone has conducted over 1700 flag marches and inspected over 1.25 lakh vehicles, resulting in fines exceeding Rs 1 crore.
Moreover, confiscated contraband, including narcotics, liquor, and gambling paraphernalia, valued at over Rs 3.5 crore, has been seized.
