Tripura Police, BSF seize pistol, drugs, ammo in joint border raid; one arrested
Guwahati: A coordinated security operation in Tripura led to the seizure of a pistol, ammunition, and a suspected cache of drugs believed to have originated from Bangladesh, police confirmed on November 15.
Tripura Police from Sonamura Police Station, along with Border Security Force personnel, conducted a raid at the Rabindra Nagar, Bhogjpur residence of Babul Miah, locally known as Body Babul, following a credible tip-off.
The operation, which commenced around 3:30 pm, was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.
Authorities recovered a factory-made pistol with a magazine, four live rounds, a butcher’s chopper, 10 grams of YABA tablets, and 100 Diazepam BP 5 mg tablets.
Additionally, 250 empty bottles of Eskuf syrup were seized, which police suspect could indicate cross-border drug-syrup trafficking.
Babul Miah, 49, was arrested at the scene, while his wife, Khursheda Begum, 27, was taken into custody for questioning.
Police stated that a case is being registered at Sonamura Police Station under applicable legal provisions.
