Tripura: Officials inspect proposed site for Ayurvedic drug manufacturing unit in Sabroom
Agartala: A joint team of officials from various departments on Friday inspected the proposed Ayurvedic drug manufacturing unit at Sabroom in South Tripura as part of efforts to strengthen AYUSH healthcare services in the state, officials said.
The preliminary inspection was conducted at the Integrated AYUSH Hospital in Sabroom following directions from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The delegation was led by the Branch Officer of the Ayurveda Wing under the Directorate of Health Services.
Officials from the National AYUSH Mission, the Deputy Drug Controller's Office, the State Drug Testing Laboratory, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, the office of the Sub-Divisional Medical Officer at Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital, and the AYUSH Department in South Tripura were also part of the team.
During the inspection, the officials reviewed the proposed infrastructure for the manufacturing unit, quality assurance measures, utilisation of available space, compliance with regulatory requirements, and other technical aspects necessary for the production of Ayurvedic medicines, officials said.
According to the Health Department, the proposed facility is expected to enable the production of standard Ayurvedic medicines within the state, reducing dependence on supplies from outside Tripura.
Officials said the unit is also expected to strengthen the state's AYUSH healthcare delivery system by ensuring greater availability of Ayurvedic medicines.
The National AYUSH Mission, Tripura, said the state government would continue expanding AYUSH infrastructure and take steps to improve access to affordable, quality healthcare services across the state.
